Art Project: Painting Cat Food Cans

Does your cat eat a lot of cat food? Don’t recycle the cans. You can paint them, and it’s really fun. They are a great media to use when you are learning how to paint; it gives you the freedom to paint without reservations. They are just recyclables, if you make a mistake you can jus toss them out!

You can also glue things to them, I glued celestial faces that I made from sculpt polymer clay molds. I added acrylic paints and glitter.

The rim around the top is sometimes very sharp, depending on what can opener you used, or pull tab. You can go around the can a second time to remove the remainder of the rim. If that doesn’t work, use a tool to crimp or pliers and work your way around the top to flatten any remaining pieces of the top rim.
