Round Table Books

The children’s bookshop selling diversity
A shop in Brixton only sells books featuring black, Asian or minority ethnic (BAME) protagonists.

It all started with a party

It’s true. The original bookshop was a pop-up to celebrate KNIGHTS OF turning one year – the team wanted to do something unique – and an inclusive pop-up on Coldharbour Lane, Brixton opened for a week. The response was overwhelming – loudest was the call for a permanent space – after a crowdfund caught the imagination of readers across the world, we began planning how to launch a permanent store.

We wouldn’t exist without the support of passionate people – the shop is designed by the brilliant Marssaié and Trifle Creative and we had significant early support from publishers big (Penguin Random House, Harpercollins) and small (AlannaMax, Lantana, Tiny Owl), not to mention endless help from Tales on Moon Lane (teaching us how a bookshop works)
